Formal Dress
When you are going out to attend a business meeting, a wedding, any function as a guest or even your child’s school anniversary; you will be in a search of a special Formal Dress to make your appearance a special one.
Formal Dress gives a man or a woman that unique appearance he or she wants on that special occasion.
You might be attending a business meeting, where you are going to present a business proposal of your dream business before a financier or you might be attending a meeting as a guest to motivate the young minds of the country. As we all know, First impression is the best impression. And on these mighty occasions, how to make that first impression as an impressive one? The answer is -- “With that Formal Dress that best suits the occasion”.
Styles of Formal Dress
Men’s Styles:
- Court Dress
- Morning Dress
- Lounge Suit
Women’s Style:
- Ball Gown
- Evening Gown
- Cocktail Dress
However, the continual relaxing of formal standards since World War II have led to a blurring of what constitutes “formal” and “semi formal”. While pedigreed etiquette and menswear experts tend to still use the traditional terms - particularly when describing dress codes for weddings - many other consultants use more contemporary labels and definitions. It is now common to see white tie described as “very formal” or even “ultra formal” and black tie labeled as “formal”.
So, while choosing the perfect Formal Dress for an occasion the basic rules that must be followed are very simple.
The Suit:
To look stylish and to look dignified at the same time is very simple. Select solid colors such as black, grey or dark blue. You can't go wrong with a single-breasted suit.
With a single-breasted suit, you look slimmer and leaner; at the same time with a double-breasted suit, you look a bit fatter --- So it’s a matter of your choice. But single-breasted suit is a preferable one.
A perfect suit can make you look stylish, dignified, cool, mature, dynamic, conservative, smart and even sexy at the same time.
As any body that is going to look at you, will going to look at your suit just after looking at your face you, should be very careful while choosing the suit for any occasion. And that’s why suit forms the most important part of Formal Dress.
According to a recent research conducted in France , revealed that 78% of the women get attracted to men who look sexy in suit rather than any other dress. So, this proves the importance of Formal Dress once again.
Fabrics:
Next come Fabrics.
Patterns for formal suits these are limited to solids, stripes, plaids and checks. So there is not a lot of option available here. And its just a matter of taste. Almost all types look equally good.
Of all the available options Wool is the best one to buy. Normally, it’s a bit heavy and that adds a bit more style to your appearance. And it’s ideal for warmer months.
Ties:
Now a day’s people don’t really bother about ties. We see people; even at the highest ranks attend meetings without ties.
But still, wearing a tie gives you some extra points. If you choose a collar and a tie that matches with the other apparel, then the Formal Dress just looks ominous.
The Shirt:
Collars that are wide, suit people with lean faces. Whereas; people with broad faces should go for collars that are narrow.
Again the color of the shirt should match with the other apparel of your Formal Dress.
Shoes:
Brown and ox blood can look stylish; but Black is the traditional safe color.
Now a day’s people prefer brown shoe for the Formal Dress. As they think that black became too orthodox. Again it depends on an individual taste to decide whether to go for an orthodox one or to experiment a bit.
A variety of styles including loafers, wingtips, round-toe, or the trendy pointy-tipped shoe are available. So, you can choose according to your taste and preferences, according to the occasion.
Shoes are the final touch and are one of the things that most people will notice great suit and look and scuffed or dirty shoes. So, don’t economize on quality. Don’t make this mistake.
They should be nicely polished. Try and use high quality polish, because that only can make your shoe shine for more amount of time. Bargaining with this aspect may cause a great disaster for your whole appearance.
The sox are another most important aspect. Use only dark colors. New one is advisable. But, at least have it washed neatly. Sometimes they may spoil the whole situation. Be careful!!
Belts:
Use good quality belts. They are not that expensive when you compare with the other parts of your Formal Dress.
Your belt color should be coordinated with your footwear and suit - black with black, brown with brown. If the color doesn’t match, then it not only looks odd but it also spoils the whole look of your Formal Dress.
There you have. If you follow all the above listed guidelines, you are going to win those much needed admiring looks at those special occasions which are even special to you.
