Clothing has often been one of the most popular ways for children to express their own individual style, as well as demonstrate their creative skills. In order for schools to adapt many of these uniform policies, the creativity of the children has had to suffer. However, for those who are smart and stay within the rules, there are still some ways to express themselves. Because most school uniforms require only a few colors to be worn, it can really limit the ability to enjoy wearing favorite colors, or even favorite clothing styles. However, it is typically possible to find a few options that you can pick from. For example, girls that are not overly fond of wearing skirts or dresses are almost always permitted to wear Capri’s or pants instead. This can allow them to be more comfortable than they might otherwise be if skirts was the only permitted item. It is also a possibility to consider options such as buttons and patches. These are often designed for specific hobbies, or causes including political and most schools will allow students to wear them. By carefully and tastefully using these items, it is possible to demonstrate some individuality while still remaining in the dress code and school uniform policy. For older students, typically middle school and high school, the girls are almost always permitted to wear makeup. This can allow the girls the freedom to explore their own beauty style, as well as work on accenting the features that they are most proud of.
