Tuxedo Shirts
A tuxedo is a perfect outfit for many occasions. Although a few men attempt to get by with an evening shirt featuring a simple turndown collar and French cuffs, it is advisable to wear a proper tuxedo shirt.
While a tuxedo shirt is normally white in color, off-white is acceptable as well. Pleated shirts are given preference as they have a more formal appearance although shirts that do not have pleats may feature some texture, like piqué, to give it a crisp and luxurious look. Shirts that are commonly worn with a tuxedo include those with a wing collar, turndown collar and mandarin collar.
A wing-collar shirt; a shirt with a stand-up collar that has ends, which are folded over to create “wings"; is found in the traditional tuxedo shirt. It is generally coupled with a bow tie and cummerbund, and sometimes with an ascot. Tabs are by and large worn behind the tie.
The bow tie is a fashion accessory, popularly worn with other formal attire, such as suits or dinner jackets, most commonly by men. It consists of a ribbon of fabric tied around the collar in a symmetrical manner such that the two opposite ends form loops
A turndown-collar shirt is a formal shirt with a collar similar to a business-style dress shirt. It is generally accessorized with a bow tie. This style can be worn with a tuxedo although it is less official than a winged-collar shirt.
The mandarin-collar shirt is a new style of formal shirt featuring a short band collar only about one inch high, expressly designed to be worn without a tie. The shirt's top button can be adorned with a button cover.
A band-collar shirt is a tuxedo shirt without a collar. This shirt can have a pleated or plain front. It is worn with either a button cover or collar band. Although people believe that the band-collar is a dress shirt, it is a casual style and hence not appropriate for weddings and funerals.
Tuxedo formal wear suits are available for your purchase and for your rental needs. Going out on the town for a splashy evening meal with a hot date, you can look your best in a tuxedo. She may not expect you to be so dressed, but the ultimate effect is one that will give you an appeal that she just can’t refuse.
When a regular suit, and tie are just not going to cut it. Get in to the social world by dressing the part, and this will include a tuxedo that is tailored to fit your personal size and your personal preferences.
If you are getting ready to go out on a date with a star you most likely are going to need tuxedo formal wear. If you are getting married, if you are in the wedding party or if you are parents of the bride and groom chances are you need a tuxedo as well. A tuxedo is worn to the prom, to the special ball, to the sweet sixteen parties you are going to attend, and to the bar mitzvah and the special holiday occasions that you will be planning for family.
Purchasing a classic tuxedo is a sensible investment if you anticipate wearing it on a couple of occasions. If you do not own a tuxedo, renting one is inexpensive. And your appearance in Tuxedo at that special occasion makes you even special.

Tuxedos by Terry Price
So gentlemen, that hot night has finally arrived! It doesn't matter what occasion you are going to, any occasion that requires a tuxedo is usually hot. Let's assume you are going to the prom and you want to impress the ladies. Here are few tips. Remember that the tuxedo is the height of formal dress wear for a man, and knowing when to wear one and what type to buy or rent can be a bit tricky. The first thing you need to do is refer to your invitation as it will state what type of affair you are invited to, whether it is a black tie, formal, black tie required or black tie optional. You can be invited to the opening night of the ballet, symphony or opera, and of course, there is a formal dance or ball like the prom. You can also be invited to a formal dinner part or reception or even dinner at a formal restaurant where some folks consider dress very important.
A few tips in the style department won't hurt. Remember, buy your tux for the quality garment it is. Renting will not give you the quality you want. Stay traditional and avoid colorful cummerbunds and socks, etc. Keeping it simple will give you the most elegant look. Following the same rules when it comes to buying a suit will serve you well, too.
Remember, double-breasted styles look best on men that are trimmer while single button styles will flatter the most. Remember, no clip on ties. Tie it yourself or get the formalwear salesperson to do it for you. Cummerbunds should match the fabric on the man's jacket and the pleats should be face up. Gentlemen, you are going to have many styles to choose from, so go with your gut feeling on this. You will find single-breasted peak (most traditional), double-breasted, shawl-collar (flattering for heavier men), or the notched-collar, and finally, the three-button style. Have fun and enjoy this fabulous occasion, whatever it may be!
